Mizan means “balance”, and a Mizan treatment is doing just that – bringing balance back to the body. It is really gentle, and works over your tummy and lower back, from just below the bottom of your rib cage to the top of your pubic bone, and from your mid back to your tail bone.
I would describe it as gentle but profound, and very intrinsically woman-centred. Mizan is more than ‘just’ a massage, it is a wholistic therapy and consultation which looks at your lifestyle and how it is contributing to your health. Your first treatment with me, I will have sent you a form for you to fill out, it’s quite in-depth and covers your diet, lifestyle, family history, emotional well being, menstruation symptoms, pregnancies and birth, menopause and most importantly why you have decided to have this treatment.
It can seem quite daunting filling out the form, because of the amount of questions I ask, but this in itself creates the picture I can then work from to help you get back into balance.
I have had some big disclosures during this process, and I truly believe that is because it’s the first time anyone has probably asked those questions. Light bulbs always go off which is amazing when those connections get made. Healing starts from these questions, when we talk and share, and start piecing together what has brought you here in the first place. I’m always blown away with the results, and I think it’s one of the best things I have ever learnt in my whole life.
During this consultation, other things will get added into the mix depending if you need them, or are open to trying. Castor oil packs, womb wraps, vaginal steams, herbs, affirmations, meditations and self care massage.
We might talk about the benefit great nutrition has on our body and hormones – for example how using organic foods can benefit us (and if only one thing in your diet becomes organic, chicken is the place to start). This treatment is tailored completely to you, and every woman’s needs will be different and unique to her.
Women come to see me for a wide and varied reasons, could be digestion issues, painful periods, heavy periods, no periods, endometriosis, fertility issues… the list really is a bit endless of the amazing things Mizan can help with.
Fertility is a common reason for a visit, we can take the month-by-month approach or a three month work up to get your body in the most excellent health for conceiving, be it naturally or with IVF. I like to think of it as a bit of womb TLC.
Women have found that even after one session with me they notice a change in their period. I have had texts saying ‘thank you for the first red period I have had in years’, ‘I can’t believe the difference it has made to my cycle’, ‘Thank you so much for the support you have given me with my fertility journey’
I decided to learn Mizan purely for my own health, I wanted another way to support myself and my periods. Along with my herbalist training this completes the circle for me. It has opened up a whole new world that I am very excited to share with you!
